Sr. High Leadership Week

Discover the leadership skills hidden within by attending the third leadership training.  You will grow through experiential exercises.  On Sunday, after you get settled, several hours will be spent talking about leadership and alsoabout working with the special population coming for the week. You will be involved in serving as a “buddy” to an Adult Special Camper (ASC). Monday morning the adults will arrive at camp around 9:30 for an unforgettable week, and you will help make that happen. After meeting your adult buddy you will travel with them from activity to activity joining in. Our camp is 240 acres on 5 connecting lakes and activities vary from archery, crafts, swimming, fishing, talking about God, singing, talent show, out posting, sports and much more. After lunch while the ASC is taking a rest you will have an hour to do the same. In the afternoon the fun continues exploring God’s great outdoors. After supper Greenwood staff will take over until breakfast the next day. During the evening you are free to continue spending time with the ASC or do your own thing as a group. In the evening Greenwood will set up the following activities for your group: 1) high adventure ropes and 40 foot climbing wall, 2) canoe trip down a river, 3) a minor league base‐ball game, 4) inner city ministry opportunity.  SERVE Week

Leaders: A mission trip where all you have to do is sign people up!

Camp Greenwood and Retreat Center, located 30 minutes northeast of Grand Rapids, MI, consisting of 240 acres located on 5 interconnecting lakes, is excited to offer youth and leaders the opportunity to SERVE God’s less fortunate. Starting Sunday, June 24 – 30 is SERVE Week.  Serve will consist of 2 camps in 1 week.  Junior high kids will work and small group together, while senior high will do the same.  Then we will come together for eating, playtime, praise and worship.  Youth and their leaders will descend on this wooded, yet modern property to celebrate God’s goodness. Sunday evening starts with a mass meeting to include praise, worship and a motivational speaker, setting the tone for the week. Participants will stay in modern cabins complete with a bathroom and shower. Meals are served in the dining hall overlooking Woodbecks all sports lake. After breakfast and individual quiet time, participants will get in vehicles to SERVE in Grand Rapids, Rockford and Greenville. Projects will include small construction, Servant-Evangelism, street ministry to homeless and runaway kids, working at a soup kitchen, Salvation Army, a food bank, nursing homes brightening the day of elderly people and various other ministries located in Kent County. Our goal is to provide a ministry of touching people by touching their lives.   When you return from your SERVEsite your stay at Camp Greenwood will include free time to use our sail boats, kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, pontoon boat and fishing craft. Use your free time to enjoy archery, volleyball, soccer, hike the many trails on our property.  Use a 3 story floating iceberg or just rest. Each evening we gather to share how we saw God at work throughout the day, praise and worship Him and listen to an awesome speaker. The highly energetic staff at Greenwood is anxious to make this the best week of loving God and His children. After four days of SERVing God by SERVing others, we will celebrate our unity by going to the pristine shores of Lake Michigan in Grand Haven. In the evening we will return to camp for a closing ceremony, a good night’s sleep and depart on Saturday by 9 AM.

Isle Royale National Park Trip

The island is 45 miles (72 km) long and 9 miles (14 km) wide, with an area of 206.73 square miles (535.43 km2), making it the largest natural island in Lake Superior, the second largest island in the Great Lakes (after Manitoulin Island), the third largest in the contiguous United States (after Long Island and Padre Island), and the 33rd largest island in the United States. It is defined by the United States Census Bureau as Census Tract 9603 of Keweenaw County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census there was no permanent population.[3] After the island was made a national park, some existing residents were allowed to stay,[4] and a few leases are still in effect. Ferries from Michigan and Minnesota land at Rock Harbor on the eastern end of the island; this has a lodge, campground, and information center. Ferries from Minnesota also run to Windigo on the western end, which has a visitor center and campground.
